Playground Heroes is the 16th episode of the first season of Team Umizoomi, and the 16th episode overall.
Episode Description[]
At the playground, a storm has left the sandbox, swings, slide, and bouncy bridge in disarray! Until everything gets fixed, the park will remain closed! It's a big job, but no job is too big for Team Umizoomi! [1]
Summary[]
After a big storm trashes the playground and makes it a big mess, the team has to fix the playground for Mia and her friends, so they can all play in the playground.
Synopsis[]
Intro: Clean It Up[]
On a rainy day, Milli greets the viewers while cleaning her bedroom at home in the Fountain Headquarters. She loves it when the household is all tidy. She puts her stuffed animals away, and asks Umi-Friend what their favorite stuffed animal is. Then, she sorts them into her bins (which look a little like flat-bottom exercise balls) by their design, which include stripes on a zebra, and spots on a bear. After that gets done, Geo stops by Milli's bedroom telling her that he cleaned his bedroom as well. Then, with a little help from Bot, they clean up their shared playroom while singing "Clean It Up." After all their hard work, the sun comes out, and now the team can go to the playground… kinda.
Broken Playground Equipment[]
Bot's UmiAlarm rings, and he finds out that the team's friend Mia is reporting that the playground is closed due to the effects of the rainstorm that happened earlier, because it wrecked four (4) pieces of playground equipment. She shows that the sandbox is covered in trash, the swings have broken chains, the bouncy bridge has holes in it, and the slide is covered in yucky stuff. The team promises Mia that they'll help get the playground fixed and cleaned up, and their duty then begins as they set up their Mighty Math Powers with the Mighty Math Powers song.
Time To Get To Work![]
After the team takes the UmiCar to the playground that was closed, they make it to their friend Mia and her friends in a matter of seven (7) seconds from the time Bot checked how far away they were. Mia and her friends are glad to see Team Umizoomi in person and are rooting for them as they go to fix all the equipment. The team is also happy to help, and they're small enough to fit through a hole in the fence, so they can get in and get started. The team looks carefully at what needs to be fixed and how to fix them. They decide to fix the sandbox first, and then the swings, and then the bouncy bridge, and then the slide, all before the park ranger arrives to open the gates. In order for the gates to open, the whole playground has to be fixed so everything is safe to play on.
Recycling Time[]
To get the sandbox fixed, the team has to remove and deposit all the trash that landed in it. Geo steps in by building a bulldozer with his Super Shapes. Once he builds it, he picks up the trash by type. With a little help from Umi-Friend, he scoops out three (3) metal cans, four (4) plastic bottles, and five (5) crumpled pieces of paper. They happen to all be recyclables, which are not necessarily trash, but objects that can be made into new things. The team then sings about recycling. They put the recyclables in special bins, and then the sandbox is cleaned. Thus, the first step of the job is completed!
Swing Repairs[]
Team Umizoomi decides to fix up the swings next, and they do so by going through a yellow tunnel, and taking a ride on a caterpillar's leaf boat across a giant puddle of water. As they make their way across, the caterpillar is impressed that they are going to be fixing the swings all on their own, despite their small size. The caterpillar also roots for the team as they like to play on the playground, too! Then, after they make it to the swings, they try to attach the yellow chains back on their places so the swings can work properly when the kids ride them. However, Geo finds out that a chain on the last swing is missing! To get that situated, Milli uses her measuring ponytails to measure the length of the chain. She finds out that it measures ten (10) units long, so Bot finds three (3) parts to use for the last chain, which measure seven (7) units, two (2) units, and one (1) unit, respectively. Now that the last chain is long enough, the team attaches it onto the other side of the red seat, and it becomes good as new, completing the second step of the job.
Halfway Point and Beyond[]
Bot gets a call from Mia. Geo tells her that the team just has to fix the bouncy bridge and clean the slide, and then it will be good to go. Mia appreciates that, and is still rooting for the team. Once their call ended, they rush to the bouncy bridge by going through a tic-tac-toe structure (and getting 3 in a row!).
Bouncing Around[]
After the team makes it to the bouncy bridge, Bot finds the first hole by jumping through it as he bounces his way across. But then, Milli realizes that all the boards on the bridge have pictures of bouncy things that line up in a pattern. So, she uses her Pattern Power to attach new boards with the right objects on the two (2) holes. The boards were lined up in the sequence; kangaroo, basketball, frog. Milli jumps onto each board one at a time to know what objects should be on the missing boards. The first one had a frog on it, and the second one had a basketball on it. Then, the entire bridge is fixed, and is safe to walk on again. Feeling proud that she and Umi-Friend are great at patterns, she and the rest of the team bounce joyfully on the bridge to the other side, completing the third step of the job!
Soap, Sponge, and Slide![]
Bot picks up a signal on his radar that the park ranger is almost at the playground, but she still has to wait until there is no damage left before the gates can be opened. So the team rushes to the top of the slide to clean it. Once they get there, they get kinda grossed out by the yuckiness of the slide, which is covered in dirt, leaves, and dirty water (Eww!). The team gets some sponges and soapy bubbles from Bot, and they ride their sponges down the slide to clean off all the dirty stuff. At that point, they realize that they fixed and cleaned all the equipment, and just in time, because the park ranger just arrived! She sees that everything is nice and clean, and she loves it as the playground couldn't have been any cleaner than that. As a result, she approves it and lets the kids in!
Children Finally at Play![]
Mia and all her friends are so thankful that Team Umizoomi fixed the playground and made it safe to have fun in again. Then, the team waits no longer and plays with the kids there! Geo builds a Super Sandcastle in the sandbox with two (2) kids, Milli and the caterpillar swing on the swings with Mia. and Bot goes jumping for joy with two (2) other kids on the bouncy bridge. Then, Mia slides down the now shiny yellow slide. The team also slides down it together, and thanks Umi-Friend for all their help, and then celebrate with the UmiShake and Crazy Shake.
